Finances can be stressful – here are some tips on how to unwind when your under financial strain.

I recently read an article on inc.com about 10 ways to get happier – here are my favorite 3!

#1 Help someone else.

Apparently, if we help someone else around 100 hours per year – that’s 2 hours a week – we feel better. And the great part is that it’s not just time. If we engage in ‘prosocial spending,’ we enjoy the activity more – think of paying it forward. Which leads to another one…

#2 Spend time with family and friends.

I thought about not including it but it seems like these days, with our ‘home is our castle’ mentality and with the recent events with COVID-19 it can be hard to get together with people. Try and be creative set up a group chat on every social media platform you use regularly, like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and WhatsApp. Send a voice memo, pick up the phone or even write a letter.

#3 Get some physical activity in.

Even walking half an hour a day can really help you feel better. Personally, I choose cycling but whatever you do, make sure to do it! And the best part is that you can take someone with you and work on #2 and #3 at the same time.

Bonus #4 – Smile more.

We all know when someone smiles at us we feel better and tend to smile back even with social distancing. This article talks about smiling being one of a human being’s most powerful gestures – it makes us feel better, makes us healthier and adds to our success in life.

I hope everyone finds the time to relax.
